Design for Recycling Standard
EFIBCA has launched a Design for Recycling standard for polypropylene FIBCs that sets harmonised, practical criteria to enable true closed-loop recycling of big bags into new big bags. The programme defines clear design requirements – such as predominantly mono-material PP construction, compatible liners and components, and controlled use of additives and colours – to support high-quality mechanical recycling under current European market conditions. Developed together with our partners and specialised consultants, the standard is conceived as a living document that will be regularly updated as collection systems and recycling technologies evolve. EFIBCA members complying with it can use a protected logo to communicate that their FIBCs are “Designed for Recycling” in a closed loop.
